Clifton has Cape Town's most famous set of beaches. 'Fourth Beach', still with it's beautiful original bungalows, is on the Camps Bay side, and is the family favorite, thanks to easy access. 'Third' is preferred by the gay scene, 'Second' is the student favorite and 'First', well that's got the most steps, so its the least busy. The water here is a refreshing 13 deg. Don't be afraid.
If the South Easter is blowing, Clifton is normally wind-free. This may be one of the reasons the prices for the cliff-hugging mansions are sky high. Just hope there's no earth tremor...
