HOUT BAY
Hout Bay, meaning 'Wood Bay', still has many trees and retains a country feel, though now it's a busy suburb. Once nick-named 'The Republic of Hout Bay', this vibrant community still retains some of that pioneering independant spirit. There's a fishing harbour with the frestest fish and good places to eat. There's a nice beach for walking on, or launching your sailboat/canoe. Take a cruiseboat to the seal island, visit the World of Birds, browse the Sunday market, go horse-riding, mountain-biking, hiking. Unfortunately the spectacular Chapman's Peak Drive to Noordhoek is closed, primarily due to our bungling provincial road administration. |
