Kalk Bay, and neighbouring St James, is a charming seaside village. It has a working fishing harbour - which equates with delicious fresh fish. There're some pretty shops to browse in, especially the ones with second-hand goods. There're also some good restaurants, a thearte in an old church, and don't miss the bar at the harbour, built literally on the rocks.
Across the railway lines you'll find some great tidal pools for having a dip and some nice beach spots too.
